The new BMW R 1300 RT

With the new R 1300 RT, BMW Motorrad presents a fundamentally reengineered touring motorcycle that blends comfort and performance like never before. This next-generation model in the iconic RT lineup features a redesigned chassis, a more powerful engine, and advanced electronics – all while staying true to its long-distance touring heritage.

More broadly positioned than ever before
The R 1300 RT is designed for versatility – whether it's long-haul touring, spirited corner carving, or daily commuting. A revised ergonomics concept positions the rider closer to the front, enabling a more direct connection to the road without compromising comfort. The refined footrest-seat-handlebar triangle enhances control, while the pillion rider benefits from extended seating and increased legroom for a noticeably more relaxed ride.

A boxer engine that redefines standards
At its heart beats BMW’s most powerful production boxer engine to date. With 1,300 cc of displacement, the new twin-cylinder delivers 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The result is impressive pulling power, smooth running characteristics, and refined efficiency – perfectly suited for dynamic touring.

Next-generation chassis
The completely reworked chassis features a steel shell main frame for increased rigidity and optimal space usage. A newly developed aluminium lattice subframe replaces the previous rear structure, reducing weight and centralizing mass.
Up front, the new EVO Telelever combines with the EVO Paralever rear suspension to deliver exceptional stability, precise handling, and high confidence – even under demanding riding conditions. Lighter aluminium wheels (1.4 kg less than before) further enhance agility and responsiveness.

Dynamic chassis adaptation (DCA)
The electronically controlled Dynamic Chassis Adaptation system brings high versatility to the ride. Two selectable suspension modes – one focused on comfort, the other on dynamic handling with a steeper steering head angle – tailor the bike to rider preference. In addition, automatic preload and damping adjustments ensure optimal performance across varying loads and surfaces.

ASA: Automated Shift Assistant
With ASA, BMW introduces a new dimension of riding ease. Gear changes occur automatically, without clutch actuation, making the ride smoother and more relaxed – or sportier, depending on the selected mode. Manual shifting remains available for those who prefer it, and it still requires no clutch lever operation.

Advanced braking & rider assistance
Standard Integral ABS Pro ensures safe braking, even while cornering. For sport-oriented riders, a high-performance braking system with titanium- coloured calipers is available as an option.
Advanced assistance systems enhance overall safety: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), front collision warning, lane change assist, and a new rear end collision warning system work together to provide peace of mind in any riding scenario.

State-of-the-art lighting technology and intelligent headlight system
With its full LED headlight as standard, the R 1300 RT offers excellent road illumination. The optional Headlight Pro system adds adaptive cornering functionality, automatically adjusting the beam based on riding dynamics and load. “Adaptive light modes” further optimize lighting based on speed – a key advantage for nighttime visibility and safety.

Functional design with a refined edge
The redesigned bodywork is more modern and athletic, while retaining the unmistakable RT identity. Windshield and air deflectors have been reimagined both visually and functionally, offering increased airflow in warm weather and superior protection in the cold or rain.

A New benchmark in Touring tech
The standard 10.25-inch TFT display is more than just a dash – it serves as a navigation hub and control center for the bike’s extensive functions. The new Connectivity Hub integrates accessories like heated vests or smart glasses. Smartphones are stored in an actively ventilated, easily accessible compartment with a USB-C port for charging.
Optional Audio Pro enhances the ride with rich sound even at high speeds, thanks to premium speakers and advanced audio tuning – making long journeys fly by with your soundtrack of choice.

Premium luggage options
Standard 27-liter side cases provide generous space, while optional Vario cases (up to 33 liters) offer remote unlocking, interior lighting, and USB-C charging. Two top case options are available, offering up to 54 liters of capacity – with the larger version even featuring heated backrest for the passenger.
